First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looked at whether eating a type of starch that feeds gut bacteria could help healthy adults run longer. 21 physically active people ate either a special starch or a regular starch for a week, then did a 5km treadmill run. The goal was to see if the gut bacteria fuel, called short-chain fatty acids, improved endurance and how the body used energy.
