ER Finger-Stick test could slash hepatitis c diagnosis time from days to one hour
NCT ID NCT03767231
First seen Nov 11, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a new finger-stick test that gives hepatitis C results in about an hour is acceptable to emergency room patients. About 200 adults who have tested positive for hepatitis C antibodies but don't know if they have an active infection will be randomly assigned to either get the new rapid test or standard lab testing. Researchers will compare how many people in each group follow up for care and check the new test's accuracy.
