First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a drug called eculizumab can help children with a serious kidney disease caused by E. coli bacteria. The disease, called STEC-HUS, can lead to kidney failure and need for dialysis. The trial compared eculizumab to a placebo in 100 children to see if it shortens the time they need dialysis and improves safety.
