MRI study probes hidden Fat-Heart link in HIV patients
NCT ID NCT06784154
First seen Feb 26, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at how fat stored around the heart and liver (ectopic fat) differs between people with HIV and those without. Researchers will use MRI scans to measure this fat and see if it explains why people with HIV have twice the risk of heart attacks. The goal is to gather information that could lead to new treatments to lower heart risk in HIV-positive individuals.
