Blood filtering trial offers new hope for type 1 diabetes control

NCT ID NCT05413005

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether a blood filtering treatment called extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) can help people with type 1 diabetes better control their condition. Ten adults with recent type 1 diabetes diagnosis will receive either a regular or accelerated schedule of ECP treatments along with their standard diabetes care. Researchers will check if the treatment is safe and if it helps reduce insulin needs and improve blood sugar control.
