Virtual ECG training tested on 500 nurses to boost heart reading skills
NCT ID NCT07615114
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test whether a virtual training program helps cardiology nurses in Finnish hospitals improve their ability to interpret ECG (heart rhythm) readings. About 508 nurses will be split into two groups: one will use the online training, the other will not. The training includes animations and simulations based on real patient cases. Researchers will measure skill changes using a questionnaire.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- virtual ECG rhythm training (animation and simulation)
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this virtual training could become a standard way to improve ECG interpretation skills among cardiology nurses.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study with no results yet. The training may not lead to lasting skill improvement, and the online format may not suit all learners.
