Scientists investigate blood vessel cells to unlock secrets of bleeding disorder
NCT ID NCT07358013
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This observational study aims to understand how endothelial colony-forming cells (ECFCs) behave in people with von Willebrand disease (VWD) and acquired von Willebrand syndrome (AVWS) compared to healthy individuals. Researchers will collect blood samples from 48 participants to isolate ECFCs and measure how they produce and release von Willebrand factor. The goal is to learn more about the underlying biology of these bleeding disorders.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could improve understanding of how blood vessel cells contribute to von Willebrand disease, potentially pointing toward new ways to diagnose or manage the condition.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage observational study with only 48 participants. It is not testing a treatment, so it will not directly lead to a cure or therapy.
