Trained immune cells join fight against Post-Transplant cancer in kids

NCT ID NCT02900976

Summary

This study tested a two-part treatment for children and young adults who developed a specific type of cancer after an organ transplant. The cancer is linked to the Epstein-Barr virus. Researchers combined a standard antibody drug (rituximab) with specially trained immune cells designed to target the virus-infected cancer cells. The goal was to see if this combination was a feasible and effective way to control the disease in this vulnerable group.
