ICU food fight: study challenges fasting before breathing tubes

Summary
This study looks at whether patients in the ICU with severe breathing problems can safely keep eating and drinking before they need a breathing tube, instead of fasting. Current practice is to fast, but this may cause discomfort and lack of nutrition without clear benefit. The study will compare how many patients need a tube or die within 96 hours in each group.
