Goodbye, painful swab? study tests gentle nasal wash & saliva capsule for virus detection

NCT ID NCT05864118

Summary

This study aims to find easier and less painful ways to test for respiratory viruses like COVID-19 and the flu. Researchers are comparing a gentle nasal saline wash and a saliva-collecting capsule to the standard, often uncomfortable, deep nose swab. They will enroll 1,000 adults visiting an emergency department to see if the new methods are just as accurate for diagnosis.
