Study tests whether early stent placement beats repeated stretching for tough swallowing problem

NCT ID NCT06991049

Summary

This study compares two common treatment schedules for a persistent, non-cancerous narrowing of the food pipe (esophagus) that makes swallowing difficult. Researchers want to know if placing a temporary, tube-like stent early in treatment works better and is safer than trying multiple stretching procedures first and only using a stent if those fail. The goal is to find the most effective way to open the esophagus so patients can swallow normally again.
