Cancer fever study challenges antibiotic overuse

NCT ID NCT07051525

Summary

This study aims to see if it's safe to stop antibiotics early for adults with blood cancers who get a fever after chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, or CAR-T therapy. Currently, antibiotics are often continued until white blood cell counts recover, even if no infection is found. Researchers will compare early stopping to standard care, measuring days without antibiotics, infection rates, and safety outcomes while patients remain in the hospital.
