First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study compares early placement of a small tube (TIPS) that reroutes blood flow in the liver against standard treatments like water pills and fluid drainage. The goal is to see if the shunt helps people with liver cirrhosis and severe fluid buildup live longer without needing a liver transplant. About 134 adults will take part across multiple hospitals.
