Can early speech lessons give babies with cleft palate a head start?

NCT ID NCT07219901

Summary

This study aims to see if teaching speech and language skills to babies with cleft palates, before they have corrective surgery, helps their communication development. It will involve 200 caregiver-infant pairs, where the infants are 6 to 10 months old. Families will attend group training sessions twice a week for six weeks to learn techniques to help their baby's speech, and researchers will check if this leads to better language skills and fewer speech sound problems later on.
