Simple saline rinse could protect joints after fracture
NCT ID NCT05465382
Summary
This study tested if washing a broken ankle joint with sterile salt water (saline) soon after injury could reduce harmful inflammation and protect cartilage. Adult patients with ankle fractures were randomly assigned to receive either the saline wash or no wash during their emergency room visit. Researchers then compared fluid from the joint at the time of surgery to see if the early wash made a difference.
