Shorter diet restriction after colon surgery may speed recovery

NCT ID NCT07083076

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a 10-day low-residue diet (low fiber) is better than a 6-week one for helping bowel function return to normal after elective colon surgery. About 222 adults who have planned colon resection will be randomly assigned to one of the two diet plans. They will fill out surveys about their bowel function and quality of life for up to 3 months to see which approach works best with fewer complications.
