NCT ID NCT02885142
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study compared two procedures for removing early-stage rectal cancer and precancerous growths: endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM). Researchers wanted to see which method more completely removes the tumor. The study planned to include 368 adults with early rectal cancer or rectal adenomas, but it was terminated early. Both techniques are minimally invasive and aim to avoid major surgery.
