Early treatment may stop swelling after head and neck cancer

NCT ID NCT05937269

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests if starting lymphatic treatment early—before any swelling appears—can prevent lymphedema in head and neck cancer survivors. Twenty adults who have finished surgery and radiation will be split into two groups: one uses a home compression device daily, the other receives standard care only after swelling develops. Researchers will compare how many people in each group develop lymphedema over one year.
