Silent liver disease unmasked: new study targets early PBC detection

NCT ID NCT07205874

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks for early signs of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in people who have a specific antibody (AMA) but normal liver enzyme levels (ALP). Researchers will perform a liver biopsy and special blood tests on 80 adults to find factors that predict PBC before it causes damage. The goal is to diagnose the disease earlier, when treatment may be more effective.
