New reflex test could spot silent liver disease in thousands of women

NCT ID NCT07573514

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether a two-step blood test can help doctors find primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) earlier in women over 40 who are at risk. PBC is a chronic liver disease that often has no early symptoms, leading to delayed diagnosis. The test automatically checks for specific antibodies when routine liver enzymes are high, aiming to speed up detection and improve long-term health.
