New tests could spot nerve damage earlier in rare disease

NCT ID NCT05311488

Summary

This study aimed to find the best tools for detecting early nerve damage in people with hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (TTRv), a rare disease. Researchers compared several methods, including a special skin microscope and a blood test, in 47 participants (both patients and healthy volunteers). The goal is to help doctors identify nerve problems sooner so treatment can start earlier to potentially slow the disease.
