First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looked at whether starting gentle leg cycling while still in bed, within 48 hours after spinal surgery, is safe and doable for people with severe spinal cord injuries. 45 adults took part, cycling for 30 minutes daily for 14 days. The main goals were to see if the cycling caused any serious problems and if patients could complete most sessions. Researchers also checked walking ability, nerve recovery, and quality of life up to 6 months later.
