Race against time: testing babies for HIV at birth to start Life-Saving drugs immediately

NCT ID NCT05393193

Summary

This study aims to quickly identify HIV in newborns at high risk by testing them right after birth at the hospital. If a baby tests positive, they are immediately offered a modern HIV medication called dolutegravir and followed for two years to see how well they do. The goal is to prevent the virus from causing serious illness by starting treatment as early as possible.
