Could two diabetes pills beat one? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT06613854
First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether starting two diabetes drugs early (metformin plus either semaglutide or empagliflozin) works better than metformin alone for people recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. About 90 adults will take the pills daily for 26 weeks and wear a continuous glucose monitor. Researchers will check blood sugar, weight, and safety to see if the combo approach improves control without added risks.
