New study aims to speed up catheter removal after rectal cancer surgery

Summary

This study looks at the best time to remove urinary catheters after surgery for mid-low rectal cancer. About 1,545 patients will be randomly assigned to have their catheter removed at 24 hours, 48 hours, or based on a personalized risk score. The goal is to see which approach reduces the need for re-inserting the catheter while also lowering infection risk.
