Home catheter removal tested to get women home faster after surgery

NCT ID NCT06344884

Summary

This study tested if women could safely remove their own urinary catheters at home one day after pelvic surgery, instead of waiting three to four days and returning to the clinic. Researchers wanted to see if early removal worked as well at preventing problems like being unable to urinate, while also reducing patient discomfort and the need for extra doctor visits. The study involved 128 women who had surgery for pelvic organ prolapse or bladder control issues.
