Radical early brain surgery tested to save severe stroke patients

NCT ID NCT07118345

Summary

This study tests whether performing skull removal surgery very early after a severe stroke can prevent dangerous brain swelling and improve survival. It compares early surgery against standard care in 380 patients who have had a major stroke and are at high risk for brain swelling. The goal is to see if acting before swelling occurs leads to better recovery than waiting until swelling develops.
