Blood test guides race against time to stop deadly sepsis

Summary
This study is testing if giving an antibiotic called clarithromycin early to adults with pneumonia can prevent the infection from worsening into life-threatening sepsis. Doctors will use a specific blood test result to identify which pneumonia patients are at the highest risk for this dangerous progression. The goal is to control the disease early, improve recovery, and prevent organ failure and death.
