Ear zaps could cut painkiller need after surgery

NCT ID NCT07260266

Summary

This study is testing if a gentle, non-invasive stimulation of the ear nerve can help manage pain after major abdominal surgery. The goal is to see if this method can reduce the amount of strong opioid painkillers patients need in their first 24 hours of recovery. Researchers will compare the real stimulation to a fake one in 108 patients to measure pain levels, recovery quality, and side effects.
