Zapping the ear to help a troubled stomach? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06491758

Summary

This study is testing if a gentle electrical stimulation applied to a nerve in the outer ear can influence the main nerve that controls the stomach. Researchers are measuring nerve signals, heart rate, and stomach hormones in people with gastroparesis (a condition that slows stomach emptying) and healthy volunteers. The goal is to gather knowledge that could inform future treatments for nausea, vomiting, and stomach problems.
