Zap in the ear to tame arthritis? new device trial offers hope

NCT ID NCT06779123

Summary

This study is testing a new, non-drug treatment for people with moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who haven't gotten enough relief from standard medications. The treatment is a special headset that delivers gentle electrical pulses to a nerve in the outer ear, aiming to reduce the body's harmful inflammation. Researchers will compare the real device to a fake (sham) version in 128 participants over 12 weeks to see if it safely improves joint pain, swelling, and overall symptoms.
