Zap your ear, ease your arthritis? new device tested for hand pain

NCT ID NCT04520516

Summary

This study tested a non-invasive device that delivers mild electrical stimulation to the ear to see if it could reduce pain and inflammation in people with a severe, painful form of hand arthritis. For 12 weeks, 148 participants used either a real or a fake (sham) device to compare results. The goal was to find a new, well-tolerated way to manage symptoms when standard pain medications don't work well or cause side effects.
