NCT ID NCT07476300

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This pilot study will test whether a brief ear acupuncture program, delivered by specially trained nurses, is feasible and helpful for adults hospitalized with borderline personality disorder. Fifteen participants will receive five ear acupuncture sessions over nine days, in addition to their usual care. The study will measure attendance and look for early signs of benefit in emotional control, anxiety, and sleep quality.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

auricular acupuncture (N.A.D.A. protocol)

What this could lead to

If this small pilot shows promise, it could point toward a safe, drug-free way to help hospitalized patients with borderline personality disorder feel calmer and sleep better.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, tiny pilot study with only 15 people and no comparison group. It is designed to test feasibility, not effectiveness, so results may not be meaningful or generalizable.
