NCT ID NCT00044174

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at how depression changes the way mothers interact with their babies and how that affects the child's thinking, emotions, and development. About 700 English-speaking mothers (ages 20-45) with infants 4 months or younger took part in interviews, home video sessions, and lab visits when their babies were 5, 12, and 24 months old. The goal was to understand differences between depressed and non-depressed mothers and how these early interactions shape a child's future.
