New feeding tube tested to protect tiniest Babies' lungs

NCT ID NCT04246333

Summary

This study tested if feeding very small premature babies through a tube that goes past the stomach (duodenal feeding) is safe and practical. The goal was to see if this method could reduce stomach contents flowing back up, which might help protect the babies' underdeveloped lungs. Researchers compared this method to standard stomach tube feeding in 24 infants to check for safety and see if it affected breathing problems or growth.
