Researchers probe hidden risks decades after infant bowel surgery

NCT ID NCT06642805

Summary

This study aims to understand the long-term risks to the bile ducts and pancreas in people who had surgery as infants for a congenital bowel blockage called duodenal atresia. Researchers will review the medical records of 450 patients who had this surgery in the last 20 years to see how often these complications occur and what might cause them. The goal is to gather better information to improve future care for children with this condition.
