Eye doctors test High-Tech vs. home remedies for chronic dry eye
NCT ID NCT05577910
Summary
This study compared two newer, in-office treatments to the standard at-home warm compress therapy for meibomian gland dysfunction, a leading cause of dry eye disease. Over 370 adults with mild-to-moderate symptoms were randomly assigned to receive either a single high-tech thermal pulsation session, four sessions of intense pulsed light therapy, or to perform warm compresses twice daily for 15 months. The main goal was to see which treatment was most effective at improving tear film stability and symptoms over the long term.
