Could a common supplement be the key to relieving painful dry eye?
NCT ID NCT03953703
Summary
This small, completed study tested whether an oral supplement called levocarnitine could help treat severe dry eye in adults with Sjogren's syndrome, an autoimmune disease. All 15 participants tried both the supplement and a placebo pill in a crossover design. The main goal was to see if the supplement reduced inflammation and improved symptoms like eye dryness and discomfort.
