Cord blood plasma eyed as treatment for blinding eye disease

Summary

This study is testing whether injections of a substance made from umbilical cord blood (called platelet-rich plasma) can slow down vision loss in people with dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a common cause of blindness in older adults. The treatment aims to stop or reduce the growth of damaged areas in the back of the eye. The study will involve 36 participants aged 65 and older with dry AMD in both eyes.
