Could common drugs speed up recovery after surgery?

NCT ID NCT07329933

Summary

This study aims to see if two common medications, dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine, can help patients' digestive systems recover more quickly after having their gallbladder removed via keyhole surgery. Researchers will give 160 patients either one drug, both drugs combined, or a placebo (inactive substance) during their operation. They will then track how well the patients' stomachs and bowels start working again, measuring things like nausea, vomiting, and when they can first eat.
