Summary

This study tested whether a medication called zonisamide could prevent permanent hearing loss in police officers after firearm training. Officers who showed temporary hearing loss after shooting were given either the drug or a placebo pill. The goal was to see if the medication could stop the temporary damage from becoming permanent.
