ICU breakthrough? drug aims to free patients from ventilators faster

Summary
This study is testing whether a drug called levosimendan can help critically ill patients who are struggling to breathe on their own after being on a ventilator. The drug is designed to strengthen the diaphragm muscle to help with breathing. Researchers will compare the drug to a placebo in 250 patients to see if it shortens the time people need ventilator support and improves their recovery.
