Virtual driving practice may rebuild confidence after brain injury
NCT ID NCT07378592
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using a driving simulator can help adults with acquired brain injury improve their driving comfort, confidence, and independence. Fifty participants will practice with realistic driving scenarios and then take an on-road test. The goal is to see if simulator training prepares them for real driving.
What this could mean

Active substance
Driving simulation training
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a safe, effective way to help people with brain injuries prepare for real-world driving.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants and no control group. Results may not apply to everyone, and the simulator may not fully translate to on-road driving.
