First seen Nov 06, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at health records from over 155,000 older adults with high blood pressure to see if one type of blood pressure medication might lower the risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Researchers compared two drugs, amiloride and triamterene, by analyzing data from Medicare claims. The goal was to find out if either drug could help protect brain health over time.
