Pancreas surgery patients may skip the drain in new trial
NCT ID NCT05720338
First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looks at whether it is safe to skip placing a drain in the belly after surgery to remove part of the pancreas. About 234 adults having this surgery will be randomly assigned to get a drain or not. The goal is to see if avoiding a drain leads to similar or fewer problems like infection, hospital readmission, or a pancreatic fluid leak.
