Old antibiotic could be new weapon against tough breast cancer cells

Summary
This study is testing if adding a common antibiotic called doxycycline to standard chemotherapy can improve treatment for early-stage breast cancer. The goal is to see if doxycycline can target stubborn 'cancer stem cells' that are thought to survive chemo and cause the cancer to come back. About 50 patients with a specific type of breast cancer (ER+/HER2-) will receive doxycycline alongside their chemo before surgery to see if it makes the treatment more effective.
