Scientists probe hidden effects of common STI prevention pill

NCT ID NCT07215325

Summary

This study aims to understand if doxycycline, a common antibiotic used to prevent sexually transmitted infections, also affects body-wide inflammation and the community of bacteria living in the gut. It will enroll 200 healthy men, both with and without HIV, who are already taking HIV prevention or treatment medication. Researchers will collect blood and tissue samples over 12 weeks to measure changes in inflammation and bacteria.
