Can a simple pill boost breathing in COPD patients already on inhalers?

NCT ID NCT04238221

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a pill called doxofylline to standard inhaler therapy can improve lung function in people with stable COPD. About 78 adults with moderate-to-severe COPD will receive either doxofylline plus their usual inhalers or just their usual inhalers for 4 weeks, then switch. The main goal is to see if the combination leads to better breathing test results.
