Island parents defy national trend, choose life after down syndrome diagnosis
NCT ID NCT04811534
Summary
This study aimed to understand why parents on Reunion Island in France often choose to continue a pregnancy after learning their baby will have Down Syndrome, when national data shows most choose termination. Researchers interviewed 28 parents who had a child with Down Syndrome to learn about their beliefs, values, and experiences during pregnancy. The goal was to gather personal stories to explain this local difference and improve support for future families.
