First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding folic acid and vitamin B12 to locally made cereal could help teenage girls in rural Ethiopia get the nutrients they need. The researchers measured vitamin levels, growth, thinking skills, and mood in 472 girls aged 13-19. The goal was to see if small-scale food fortification could be a practical way to fight deficiencies in areas without access to commercial fortified foods.
